In the context of physical architecture, 'usefulness' is often strongly associated with' use ', while uselessness seems to imply the loss of all value. On the contrary, practicality becomes the top priority, whether it is about space, production, or exchange. In the discussion of 'useful useless', our goal is to think and use a fact as a device for manufacturing things, and for a factory building mainly engaged in manufacturing production, losing its use status means the dissolution of universal value.
The work takes the former site of Xi'an Metallurgical Machinery Factory as the starting point, focusing on its research, presentation, and narration, intervening in the abandoned space, using the body and emotions as the object of carrying functions, reconstructing its emotions and poetry, redefining its uselessness, transcending the limitations of the binary system of "uselessness/usefulness", and discovering something beyond its intended meaning. Presenting dynamic posters as the main design subject.
